Finagra began producing Virgin Olive Oils in 1997 after acquiring an olive pressing plant in Serpa and transforming it into one of the most modern in Portugal.

Some years later, it was awarded certification to standard NP EN ISO9002, the first olive oil producer in Portugal to receive this distinction.

All Herdade do Esporão Olive Oils are produced in our own olive presses using olives from the finest olive groves in the Moura region of the Alentejo.

Our pressing plant’s location, on the edge of the Baixo Alentejo demarcated quality olive production region, guarantees the quality of the raw materials sourced from a cluster of the best olive growers in the region.

They are committed, though year-long monitoring and training, to using the perfect techniques to produce for us the finest olives from traditional Portuguese varieties.

Produced using only mechanical processes in order to preserve the fresh, fruity aroma of the olives from which they come, Herdade do Esporão Olive Oils are then tested by a panel of tasters including some of the top specialists in Portugal and classified as Virgin or Extra Virgin Olive Oils.

Herdade do Esporão Olive Oils have been created to enhance different consumption moments.

Extra Virgin D.O.P. Olive Oil and D.O.P. Private Selection Unfiltered Olive Oil are two delights obtained from olives selected for Protected Designation of Origin.

They yield the genuine taste of Moura olives, with a low acidity that guarantees an intense flavour and fruity aroma.

The Galega and Cordovil olive oils, produced from typically Alentejan varieties, are single varietal olive oils created specially for connoisseurs.

To make up a cruet, we produce a low acidity olive oil and a red wine vinegar aged in oak, both bottled in attractive flasks.
